Willow Oak Group, LLC creates unique training programs that blend local field experiences, emerging technologies and current practices in learning design. Participants in our programs are empowered with skills and inspired to act. Some recent examples of training programs we have designed include:
Building Urban and Community Habitats with Youth
Designed for the National Conservation Training Center this program focuses on strategies to engage youth in urban communities in wildlife habitat conservation projects. The training was developed and piloted in New Mexico and includes both synchronous and asynchronous distance learning as well as a face to face portion.
Backyard Wildlife Habitat
Designed and implemented for Washington DC homeowners, this four year collaborative project with Audubon Maryland/DC and the District Department of Environment included free, public face to face training program and the design and planting of 22 demonstration wildlife gardens on public lands.
Designed to guide children, parents, teachers and other community members to learn, play and discover their local natural ecosystem this program was created for child care centers and preschools. Developed for the US Fish & Wildlife Service, Chesapeake Bay Field Office this program included workshops, materials and evaluation. Learn more about the parent activity cards.
Building a Schoolyard Habitat and Outdoor Classroom
Developed and piloted in California, this unique course for the National Conservation Training Center leads conservation professionals through the process of working with schools to create wildlife habitat on school grounds. We have adapted the course to incorporate blended learning techniques and delivered it to audiences in New Mexico, Florida, Michigan, West Virginia and Alaska.
